Last Day of School!

 The girls are through with school!  It's unofficially (being that summer doesn't actually arrive until next month) officially summer around here...yay!!!

We've had the best year...the girls have each loved their teachers, and I have as well.  I have loved every minute of substitute teaching and have enjoyed being at the school as much as possible.  I just love the girls' school to pieces...as ya'll have heard me say many times before.

Macy says this was her best year ever.  She absolutely LOVED her teacher.  Her favorite subjects were History and Science...she thinks Math and Language are pointless...ha!  She loves reading, which I think is wonderful.  I was a bookworm when I was her age.  I cannot believe she will be in 6th grade next year...our last year on the elementary hall!

Lucy had a wonderful 1st grade year.  She loved her teacher and just really bloomed this year.  She has developed an absolute love for reading and is reading on almost a 6th grade level. 

Macy got awards for highest average in several subjects, perfect attendance (which always seems miraculous to me), as well as an award for maintaining all A's throughout the year.

Lucy received awards for highest average in several subjects and maintaining all A's thoughout the year.  She also recieved the All*Star Citizen award (one boy and one girl in her class got this).  I was so proud for her.  This award is actually voted on by the students.   

I'm so proud of both of my girls.  They love school and never complained one single morning about having to go, which makes it so much easier on us as parents!  They are very independent with their schoolwork and their homework each night. 

So excited that summer is here!!!

So (Another Catch-Up Post!)...

Ya'll have overwhelmed me with the sweetest comments and e-mails since I shared the news about our baby!  Thank ya'll...they have meant so much to me! 

So, yes, we are expecting a sweet little baby.  I kept it a secret as long as I physically could.  It was so funny...because I went through a time were I was about to bust to tell, then I got so used to only us knowing.  I told Jason that I thought we would just wait several more weeks before telling, and he looked right at me and said, "Um, have you looked in the mirror lately?  I don't know if you've noticed...but there is NO way you can hide it any longer."  In fact, when we told our church friends, there were several who said they'd been watching from week to week and knew something was up *Ü*  

I think it probably goes without saying that because of what we went through last year, I was very anxious and nervous the first few weeks after we realized I was pregnant.  To be quite honest, I was a scared mess.  I actually found out later this time that I was pregnant (not as early on is what I mean), so I didn't have to wait but a few weeks to see the doctor.  I've been to see him twice already and had ultrasounds both times.  We have a healthy baby with a very strong and very fast heartbeat, for which I am so thankful.  When I heard that sweet heartbeat for the first time, I totally lost it on the ultrasound table.  Such an answer to so many prayers.

One of my very best friends is expecting...as well as my favorite cousin...and we are all due within 5 days of each other!!  God is so good!!!

Sleep has taken precedent over blogging these days.  But I start my second trimester tomorrow and just this week I am feeling sooooo much better!  I can actually stay awake until about 10 o'clock now.  Ha!!!

We told the girls the Friday night before Mother's Day.  I had been to the doctor for the second time the day before...he couldn't believe that we hadn't told the news yet.  Actually my sister and my sweet friend (the one who is expecting) did know...but that was it!

The girls faces will tell you how excited they were.  These were some sweet, priceless moments...

The girls were so happy!  Lucy started crying, bless her sweet little heart.

And yes...we've done the math...Macy will be starting her senior year in highschool (and Lucy the 8th grade) when this baby starts kindergarten!!!

Mother's Day was so much fun.  Macy made me a little bag of Hershey's kisses and sprinkles with this cute little note attached....

I found these really cute and bright frames to put our picture in to give to my Mom and Jason's Mom for Mother's Day.  It took them both a little bit to figure out what was going on, but it was a lot of fun!

So the next few pictures are a little random, but ya'll know I like to be random...

My sister made this adorable Mississippi State door hanger.  I think I want her to make me two for my front doors (hint, hint...ha!).  Although at our house, they'd have to be "states of Mississippi."  Although we do root for the Dawgs when they're not playing Alabama.

Lucy found this hat toboggan (sp?) of Jason's and made it into a magic hat...

See?  She pulled a rabbit out of it!

I love gerber daisies.  They are my favorite!

We had our first snowcones (is snowcone one word or two??) of the summer...

The girls only have one more hour of school tomorrow morning.  They've been staying up a little late this week, being that they only had half days both yesterday and today.  Lucy came home today and declared she was going to bed.  Sister was serious too...she crawled right up in Macy's bed and fell sound asleep! 

I'm off to tackle this...

Another Catch Up Post

 I feel like all of my posts lately are titled "catch up posts."  It's been a crazy few weeks!  I have been subbing lots and making cookies like crazy...but it's all good...just busy!!!

We've had soooooo much rain lately... 

Rainy weather is such a nice time to catch up on laundry and ironing...when I'm not at the school or baking! 

Lucy's tumble group participated in Columbus' Market Street Festival last weekend.  It was a bright and sunshine-y day, hence Lucy's face... 

 Sunday Snaps from last Sunday.  We all ended up wearing denim jackets to church that day *Ü*

Jason was the deacon of the week and had to stay late to lock up the buildings, so the girls and I were on our own for picture taking.  Macy took some of  Lucy and me... 

And Lucy took about a hundred of Macy and me in about two seconds.  All blurry, but oh well... 

I love teacher appreciation week.  I like doing little things for the girls' teachers a few times during the week.  Macy made her teacher a duct tape flower pen...all on her own.  I thought that was very sweet. 

Macy's teacher eats an apple every day, so we decided to make her an apple cookie.  Lucy wanted stacked flower cookies for her teacher and assistant teacher...

I also did the "I could not have PICKED a better teacher!" thing again this year with Bath and Body Works "Fresh Picked" foaming handsoaps... 

We've had a fun weekend so far!  We got some things done around the house that had been neglected all week, the girls had a birthday party to go to, and we went into town to run a few errands this afternoon.  Pretty laidback...which has been fine by me *Ü*

We're looking forward to a fun Mother's Day tomorrow!!!

Middle of the Week Random Post

It's May 1st!  Is that crazy or what??!! 

We have been having warm and pretty days lately.  The girls love being outside.  Makes me sooooo ready for summer.  The girls have 12 full days and 3 half days left...one of those half days is actually more like an hour, so that day doesn't really count *Ü*

I showed you the canvas that Macy had painted in art class last week.  Lucy brought hers home this week.  I love it... 

I put it in another favorite corner of my kitchen... 

We planted our garden this week...yay!  Well, actually Jason planted our garden this week.

It was going to be a group effort, but some neighbor friends came over, so the girls ended up playing while Daddy did all the work and I sat on the four-wheeler and watched. 

This is how Lucy emerges from the bathroom at night after her bath.  Makes me laugh...

Some Things & Sunday Snaps (Yes...On Sunday!)

Macy brought us a present home from school Friday.  She painted this precious canvas in art class and had it all wrapped up...

I put it in my little corner in the kitchen where lots of my favorite things are.  I love it! 

Saturday morning was so much fun.  We all loaded up and went to the co-op to get plants for our garden.  We decided to do less variety this year.  Last year we did so much that several things got squashed out and never produced.  So we're going with tomatoes, okra, peppers (green, yellow, red, and banana), and squash. 

Then we went to Lowe's and walked around the garden center.  I got this yellow flowering plant to put in my turquoise basket chair on the front porch.  I love how the turquoise and yellow look together...so bright and spring-y! 

This is so random, but I had to laugh yesterday at all the shoes in about 9 square feet of our house... 

And Sunday Snaps.  A little close up...but we had torrential rain today.  Seriously.  My back was getting wet trying to take these pictures! 

The girls were invited to a birthday party today at a local painting place this afternoon.  The set-up was so great.  An instructor guided the girls through their painting step by step.   

 How perfect that they were painting horses!
