A Fun Day!

I decided Ruby and I needed a little day trip to Tuscaloosa.  After having the sickies for several weeks, we needed to get out of the house and get some fresh air (and who am I kidding...we needed to breath some Target air too...haha).  I got up super duper early, got ready, and Ruby and I hit the road as soon as we dropped off the big girls at school.

I needed a little caffeine for the trip, so I got a large Coke at Jack's.  There's nothing quite like a fountain Coke...which come Sunday, I'm giving up for awhile.  It's time to get back on the Weight Watchers bandwagon and get ready for summer weather (I'm entirely too old to say I'm getting ready for swimsuit season...because...well...swimsuits on people my age just generally isn't too pretty.  I just want to look okay in a cover-up!).

So we got to Tuscaloosa in record time...when I texted my sister letting her know we were in town, she was shocked I had gotten there so early.  When Momma's on a mission, Momma don't mess around.

We went straight to Target.  I decided it was time Ruby sat in a buggy, rather than me push her through the store in a stroller.  Y'all, Ruby has NEVER sat in a buggy before, so today was a big day.  I didn't even have a buggy cover for her.  We went straight to the baby section (before I put her in the buggy), picked up a cover, and I sat her in it after I sanitized the buggy first, of course.  At first she didn't like it too much.  Let's face it, she'd rather be on my hip.

But I gave her some snacks and her sippy cup, and she was pretty good to go!

After our trip to Target and a couple other stops, we went to my sister's office to pick her up for lunch.  It's always fun to see the people my sister works with, and Ruby was all about entertaining them.  She showed them what a big girl she is now that she's walking and showed them the entire contents of her purse (which today included lots of Little People, a pink gumball bracelet, a rattle, and some froot loops).

As we were leaving Bippy's office, Ruby insisted on walking all the way out of the building and down the sidewalk to the car.  A sweet FedEx guy opened the door for her and said "after you little ma'am" and waited for her to shuffle out.  It was so sweet.  My sister got this cute shadow picture of them holding hands and walking...

Andrew surprised us and met us for lunch.  We had lots of fun.  These two love my babies!

I was such a mean Momma and MADE the big girls go to school today instead of going to Tuscaloosa, so I picked up a little happy for them...

Yummy!

Today was a BEAUTIFUL day.  It was nice and sunny and warm, so we spent a good bit of time outside this afternoon.

Jason and the big girls love playing football, and I think little sister wants to learn how to play as well...

This was the first time we've really played outside since she started walking well.  Goodness gracious, she's growing up fast...
This time last year, we were in isolation after her bout with RSV.  We still had 3 months to go until we could get her out and about.  Wow, what a year a difference makes!

I'm not sure if she's more excited to see her Daddy after work, or if he's more excited to see her!

My girl and me...

And all my girls and me (of course Lucy is being goofy)...

I'm sure we are in for some more cold days...honestly I wouldn't be too upset if we'd get maybe one little snow...but today was so nice that I am counting down the days until spring.  Can't wait to spend every evening outside like this!!!

Tuesday...

Back when I was being a terrible blogger (I still don't think I've fully redeemed myself, but I'm sure trying!), I had a friend do Ruby's one year pictures.  We went down to my Uncle's farm (it's absolutely BEAUTIFUL there) to do them, and I absolutely love how they turned out.  I need to do a whole blog post dedicated to them (I need to do some whole blog posts dedicated to a lot of things...and just being truthful...I don't know if I'll every go backwards, but I really need to!).  My friend who owns the clothing shop in Alabama (I think I mentioned her yesterday) texted me this morning asking for some pictures of Ruby in some of the clothes I've purchased from her.  I sent her this one, which is one of my very favorite pictures from her one year session...
I mean, those toes!!!  And those eyes!!!

I also mentioned Ruby's love for a purse yesterday.  She filled her little purse again today, and was so funny digging in it for her "keys" (I just know that's what she was doing) and playing with her coupe car...
Ruby is so much fun.  Watching her personality develop is the absolute best thing.  And now that she's walking...oh my...it's just blossoming even more.

Ruby's afternoon snack was a strawberry PopTart...I lived wildly and put a little butter on top.  Oh my goodness, how divine, and Ruby gobbled it up!

This is so silly and so random, but we've had a broken outlet cover in our bedroom for seriously forever.  It looked terrible and ugly and was an eye-sore every time I walked in the room.  After spending 39 cents (plus tax) and 28 seconds today, I had it fixed.  Why do we put off things like this?

Lucy found a tiny pair of Littlest Pet Shop glasses tonight and wore them.  She's so funny!

And an attempt at a bedtime selfie that Ruby just wasn't having...

Goodnight, friends!  Hope your day was fantastic!

Since the Wedding (Sort of a Random Post)...

Last week was sort of a blur.  The girls were out of school last Monday for MLK Day, so we just busied ourselves unpacking, resting (the girls, not me) and getting things back in order since we were out of town most of the week before for the wedding.

Ruby got some good sleep at the Grand Hotel, but there's really nothing like getting back in your own bed after being away from it.  See the bedhead...

We couldn't wait to get our hands on Abby, who had been boarded since the Wednesday before.  We were so excited to see her, and the feeling was mutual from her.

I have prayed and prayed that my girls would be well for my sister's wedding (I've prayed this ever since they got engaged last May!).  It's just been such a yucky cold and flu season, plus Ruby is so susceptible to getting everything it seems (I am convinced this has something to do with the severity of her RSV when she was so little).  Well, thankfully we remained good and well throughout the whole week of the wedding, but would you know...she started running a fever THE NIGHT OF THE WEDDING.  We went to the hospitality room (bridal suite) that was connected to my parents' room after Brittney and Andrew left the reception.  Ruby had fallen asleep on Jason and woke up burning hot with fever.  She seemed to feel okay Sunday, but woke up yucky Monday, so I called the doctor, and we went in on Tuesday.

Poor baby had to get blood work done.  She HATED the finger prick!

This was before the finger prick, while we were waiting for the flu and strep test to come back...
Everything was negative, but her throat was yucky, so they treated her for that.  Also, she was having diarrhea like crazy...they took a sample of her diaper, but since the results wouldn't be in for 48 to 72 hours, they treated her for an intestinal bacteria (like salmonella poisoning or a roto-virus because of the high fever she was having...crazy, I know!).  Thankfully, all the poop tests came back negative as well, so she really just had some sort of stomach bug.  As fast as the diarrhea came on, several days later it stopped just as quick.  It was wild.  But I'm glad to be past that.  #mygoodnesstherewasalotofpoop

She loves watching Abby from the back door (hence why my door always looks dirty...but that's okay!).

We had a monumental day when Ruby got her first very own slush from Sonic!
You better not even THINK about taking it from her!  Like mother like daughter.  Ha!  We take our Sonic drinks very serious around here!

We never had a problem with thinking Ruby was dehydrated at all during the little virus she had...which was the main thing they wanted us to watch for.  She drank like crazy.  But ate very little.  Finally, one day, she walked to the pantry (yes, I said walked...Ruby started walking AT my sister's wedding!!!), got out the bag of cheese puffs, and walked them over to her highchair and wanted in it.  Never have I been so happy to see such an orange face!

Love this baby...

And this one...
I got in trouble one day awhile back by Lucy because I had the same clothes on two days in a row when I picked her up from school.  And yes, they were dirty...confession...I hadn't even changed out of them (slept in them, everything).  Terrible, I know.  But I'm just keeping it real.  The last time I did that, she asked me to never do that again and said it was sooooo embarrassing.  Since I failed her again, I made sure I was clean and had fresh clothes on (even makeup and lipstick) the next day...

Ruby has decided she loves taking a purse around.  And I mean all the time she totes a purse!  It's super cute and super funny...I love it (I was the same way when I was little).  I posted it on Instagram (as I have most of these pictures...sorry), and hashtagged #sophiapetrillo and #goldengirls...ha!

I also did a #peekinsiderubyspurse...
Band-aids, cheerios, a little yellow marker, an empty contact box, my deodorant, and her "Andrew" Little People doll (she got the Cinderella and Prince set from Andrew's sister the week of the wedding, and they are her Bippy and Andrew dolls).  She stuffed the purse all by herself.

Saturday, we celebrated our sweet friend, Rhett Hall's first birthday.  He had the cutest baseball themed party.  Please look at this picture of Ruby and Rhett.  He is really telling her something (look at his hand and the way that finger is pointed!)...

I had a Valentine's project in mind, so after the party, we ran by Michael's to pick up a few things.  Lucy noticed this right away for Bippy and Andrew...

Lucy downloaded the cutest app to her iPod and has been making screensavers for our phones.  She knows me well...

This sweet bubble arrived from one of my favorite little children's boutiques (Cloud 9 in Decatur, AL...a girl I grew up with lives there and owns the cutest shop) and gave me some major spring fever...
Y'all know I love winter and cold weather and would never wish time away, but I am officially over winter.

I absolutely love this picture my Mom posted on Instagram from the wedding...
Love it!!!

Lucy was looking super cute Sunday morning for church.  She's so funny.  I tell her she looks so cute all of the time, and every time she replies, "I know, Momma, I know."  Cracks me up, but I'm thankful she has self-confidence (so many little girls lack it this day in age).

I made this for my sister's Bridal Brunch the morning of her wedding (the bridesmaids all went in and threw a brunch/lingerie shower for her that morning which was so much fun)...

I also made these cookies to match, but totally forgot about them, and they never got eaten!!!  Boo!  I had taken such care to package them and get them to the coast, but never thought another thing about them once we got there!

The above pictures inspired a Valentine's craft for our house...

I also picked up a chalkboard mug the day we were in Michael's picking up things for the above project.  I wrote on it, and this was my "happy Monday" post this morning...

Ruby took the longest nap today.  I got so wrapped up in tidying up, doing laundry, etc that I didn't get a shower before she woke up.  So I moved Ruby into the bathroom in the highchair to eat her lunch while I got ready so I wouldn't pull another embarrassing situation on Lucy!  Ruby didn't seem to mind eating in the bathroom at all...

And this picture...
Absolutely melts me.  Those eyes, that hair (that seriously seemed to grow in overnight).  Goodness gracious, I could just eat her!!!

Hope y'all had a great Monday!

My Sister Got Married!

We've just gotten home from the most wonderful weekend celebrating two wonderful people.  My sister married the man of her dreams, and we love him dearly.  The wedding was absolutely the most beautiful wedding I've ever been to, and the day could not have been more perfect.  Y'all know I have tons and tons of pictures, but I've got five days of laundry to catch up on and lots of unpacking to do...the wedding was a destination wedding, so we've been out of town since Wednesday.  If you follow me on Instagram, you've already seen lots of pictures...but I'll soon be back to post more here!

Suckers In the Tub, Edible Glitter, and Ruby's First Haircut

My sister and Andrew were in town on Saturday taking care of some wedding things.  Ruby and I stopped by to see them at my parents' house while the big girls were at the Lost Pizza Company with their besties.  Somehow or another, Ruby got hold of a Tootsie Pop and was bound and DETERMINED to eat that thing.  Well, she chewed on it and sucked on it (there was sticky sucker drool everywhere), and then it was time for us to leave to go pick up the big girls.  When I took that sucker away from her, y'all, you would have thought I was cutting off her leg.  Oh.My.Word.  This baby is a sweet as pie, but she has a little temper like you wouldn't believe.  My sister and Andrew stared at her in shock.  I stared at her in shock (and sorry, but yes, I giggled a little bit).  And I promised her we'd get another sucker when we got home.

So, a sucker in the bathtub on Sunday night for the win...
Can you say s.p.o.i.l.e.d.

I loved the way the front of her hair looked when she woke up Monday morning.  I instagrammed this picture with "Hello, Monday" as the caption.  Cutest little sleepyhead ever...

I've been working on a couple of wedding cookie projects this week.  I found some edible gold glitter, and I am kind of in love...

The picture is really bad quality, but the big girls have taught the baby girl how to do "duck face" on command...
Great.  Just great!

And today, my baby girl got her first haircut.  Now I didn't have the big girls' hair cut until they were nearly four years old.  They had a good bit of hair that was pretty curly, so I let it just grow and do it's thing.  Ruby's hair does have curl, but for the most part is pretty straight.  I felt like she was growing a little baby mullet, so as part of getting wedding-ready, we went ahead and did her first haircut.  Jason freaked out a little about this, but she was in great hands with my sweet friend (and also my hair girl), Ashlie...

No tears whatsoever.  Macy and Lucy both screamed their heads off during their first haircuts.  Not Ruby!  As long as she was holding a pink comb or four, she was happy as a little lark.  Ashlie only cut the back...she didn't do anything to the top or sides.  When I picture Ruby as a little bit older, I picture her with a sweet little bob.  We shall see.

And wah lah...no more baby mullet!

I think it looks so sweet!
Can I mention that Ruby loves Mrs. Ashlie?  She is pretty particular about who she goes to.  But Mrs. Ashlie has her own Lucy that is two, and Ruby is smitten with her!  She spots her in church and starts pointing and waving and screaming for her...to the point where sometimes I just go give her to Mrs. Ashlie so she can see her Lucy.  And her Lucy always has her baby doll "Charlotte" with her, which of course captures Ruby's attention too (and is the reason why we pretty much go everywhere with our own baby doll)!

So Ruby got her first haircut and has the sweetest certificate to prove it!

We're getting wedding-ready around here!  Super duper excited that my sister's wedding is in FOUR DAYS.  I can hardly believe it!!!
