Today was violin group lesson...remember those?? Macy enjoys going, and it is fun to watch her play the violin with other children. I am amazed at how well Macy is doing. She LOVES practicing. She practiced on her own this afternoon for a whole hour. She is trying her best to teach Lucy to play a box of macaroni & cheese (wrapped in brown paper with a beautiful illustration of a violin on it and a ruler taped to it). Considering mac & cheese ranks pretty high on Lucy's list of favorite foods, this has become hard for her now that she knows there is a box of it underneath the brown paper. Anyway...after much instruction and pleading from Miss Macy, Lucy decided she was going to participate in group lesson. Macy's teacher is amazingly patient and was very glad for Lucy to join it. She actually did everything the other children did (this is a class of beginners, like Macy). She stood up there right beside Macy as big as you please. I leaned forward in my chair to try to help her at one point, and she took her plastic bow, shook it at me and said "Sit BACK, Mama." She knew all her rhythms and bowed her box violin quite perfectly.
Before the night was over, Lucy gave into temptation...she tore open that box of macaroni & cheese and said "I weady to eat my violin, Mama."
