I kept meaning to do a post this week, and it just never happened. Things got a little crazy...much expected for the last full week of school!
This week was "teacher appreciation week." I got some really cute ideas from pinterest...what would we do without pinterest? Seriously! I decided to send something to the girls' teachers on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday.
Monday, they took foaming handsoaps from Bath and Body Works...from the "fresh picked" line. I made country-looking tags to attach to the soap.
For Wednesday, I made a "Rise and Shine Bag" for each teacher.
I found these super cute polka dot bags at Dollar General...
We filled the bag with a fun coffee sleeve that my Mom made, a little bag of butter toffee almonds, Oikos greek yogurt, and a lime green spoon wrapped in a pink polka dot napkin.
And on Friday, the girls took their teacher a big Cookie Mama apple cookie. I put each cookie in a clear cellophane bag and attached a little card that said something like "thanks for helping me to be one smart cookie."
And this is where my post gets a little random...
I love lemons. I have become obsessed with all things that smell like lemons...dish soap, hand soap, tub cleaner, toilet cleaner, etc. I love lemons, and I love the color yellow...it is just so bright and cheery. I think Gain needs to come out with lemon scented detergent...wouldn't that be awesome for summer??!!
So back to my lemons...I found these GINORMOUS lemons at Wal-Mart the other day. I make lemon water with them...a fourth of a lemon per big glass with a packet or two of splenda...
Lucy lost another tooth. This makes her fourth. I tell you, she is SO proud of losing that fourth tooth. Now I thought you most always lost your bottom two front teeth together, then your top front teeth, then you move on to the others. Oh, but not Lucy. This tooth she pulled was to the side of her bottom front baby tooth. It makes her look like the cutest little jack-o-lanter that I ever did see...
Yesterday was both of the girls' end-of-the-year school parties. Lucy's was in the morning from 9 to 11 at a local jump place. The kids had so much fun playing. One of the mothers made the cutest graduation cake with matching cupcakes for each of the kids.
Macy's part was all day at Timberlake Ministries. Timberlake is owned by the family of a little boy in Macy's class. It was a beautiful place, and the kids had an awesome time. Lucy and I headed out there as soon as her party was over and spent the rest of the afternoon there.
Here is Macy on her canoe trip...
Macy and her best little friend, Lexi...
Macy spent the night with Lexi last night and went to the circus with her family this afternoon. Lucy gets a little sad when Macy spends the night out. She asked for a goldfish for her kindergarten graduation present, so Jason and I took her to PetSmart last night to pick it out. We figured that would help her to not be so sad without Macy.
She picked out the cutest little goldfish and named her Lulu.
Here she is doing fishy faces at Lulu...
And as if one new pet wasn't enough, Jason was weed-eating today in the backyard and found this teeny tiny turtle. Another pet to go in the hermit crab cage...those things sure come in handy. I know turtles are a little gross...I told Lucy we could keep it but it had to stay in the cage. And if she touched the turtle, she had to wash her hands before touching anything else.
She wanted to name the turtle Turd. I told her we just could not have a pet name Turd. She said that was okay, and then asked if she could name him Turdy. I guess Turdy sounds better than Turd, so Turdy it is. I don't think we'll keep the turtle very long...turtles need to be outside...but for now, we have a turtle named Turdy. And Lucy says he looks like this when he pops his head out of his shell...
And totally random, but Prince loves sugar cubes...and although he could care less about what shape they are in, we give him heart shaped ones. Aren't they cute??
And I have laughed and laughed and laughed over this next picture. I am so OCD. I am that Mama that has your underwear washed and dried (and ironed...ha!!) before you can even get them off you body. I also have a thing about dirty dishes. I will wash a dish or cup or whatever as soon as it is dirtied...or throw it away if it is a solo cup or something. I got so tickled when I found this cup of Lucy's on the counter...
She had written in sharpie marker on the cup she was using "I might use it again." The girl knows her Mama well.
So that's my random post about what went on in our week.
Oh, and in case you were wondering...I really do not iron our underwear.
